I went to Morimoto's for restaurant week in Wailea. It was May 25-May 31st with a prix-fixe menu of $49 per person. Vancouver has the same type of specials in January called dine out Vancouver. It's a reasonable way to sample fine dinning for one all included price. This way you will know if you want to return on a regular day or not depending on the food and service. You usually get three courses with choices and you pick one of each. Then you can add extras and alcohol. It is a great deal if you love fine dining but cannot afford the cost.
This was our amouse bouche. It is proscuitto ham with a tempura fried pineapple with some foam?( can't remember what kind). It was very light and delicious.
above photo is whitefish carpaccio with hot oil mitsuba. Also very
light and tasty. The view from the restaurant is lovely and there was a
function going on by the beach. Apparently the hotel (Andaz) has many
that go on.
manager Cindy and all the wait staff are very nice. My daughter was
cold and I asked for a towel where one of the hostesses ran to the pool
to get her one and let her use it as a wrap. Our water glass was never
is the other appetizer kakuni. Ten hour pork belly, rice congee and soy
scallion jus. Pork belly is pretty popular all over and it truly is
delicious when prepared properly. This one tasted excellent!
is the braised black cod with ginger soy reduction. Also very tasty
however not much else to eat. It's hard getting used to the portion
was my husband's meal and he was very glad for this portion size. He
said it was delicious and it filled him up. He doesn't appreciate fine
dining as much due to the portion sizes. He is also more of a pasta and
Road to matcha. Kula strawberries, white chocolate rocks. Plenty and nice textures.
The whole experience was fantastic and not one I will forget soon.
caramelized ganache, cuban red bananas and lilikoi. (I asked in the
grocery store and found out they are a type of passionfruit.) Really
great flavour and not so sweet.
